December 10, 2025 — Update from Planning Commissioners Journal Publisher and Editor Wayne Senville:
![]()
Since early 2021 I’ve been working for The Bricklyn Eagle newspaper. I think you’ll enjoy reading the Eagle, especially if you (or your children or grandchildren) also love to “play” with LEGO bricks. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Would welcome having you receive the Eagle’s occasional email updates (it’s free!). You’ll find that in Bricklyn, like most places, planning and zoning issues often come up. Fortunately Bricklyn has a terrific planning director in Tim Brickedy, plus the talented “Gang of Four” to call on!
Now allow me to backtrack to the Planning Commissioners Journal, which is why you’re probably reading this page.
For 23 years — from 1991 to 2014 — the Planning Commissioners Journal and PlannersWeb.com served respectively as the nation’s principal publication and online resource for citizen planners, including members of local planning commissions and zoning boards.
We are no longer adding new content — but are now making available on PlannersWeb.com our back content of over 600 articles at no cost (more on this further down the page).
A bit of background. I was honored to have served for eleven years as a member of the Burlington, Vermont, Planning Commission (including three years as Chair). Prior to that I was director of regional & local planning assistance for the State of Vermont. I experienced first hand many of the situations planning commissioners face. We’ve been committed to publishing concise articles, written and edited so that you don’t need an advanced degree to understand them.
Over the years, we were supported by a slate of terrific contributing writers and by a small, but very dedicated staff, led for nearly 17 years by our general manager Betsey Krumholz — who also served for six years as a planning commissioner — assisted by our office manager, Peggy Ellis-Green.

Unfortunately, we’re no longer adding any new content, and have closed our business. However, as a service to citizen (and professional) planners across the country, and to any other interested persons, you can access, download, and/or print out past articles here on PlannersWeb.com at no cost for your personal use, or for the use of members of a municipal planning commission or board.
For any other use of any content or images, please see our copyright page.
We also suggest that it is easier to find content of interest to you by viewing our web pages on a computer rather than on a smart phone.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at: pcjoffice@gmail.com — please allow up to two weeks for replies — though I’ll usually get back to you a lot sooner.
